Hello everyone! Sadly, this will be my last blog on A Guide to Physical and Mental Health Strategies for College Students. However, I just wanted to take the time to conclude my final thoughts and wisdom as a current college student, who is trying to incorporate healthy exercise and lifestyle habits into my daily routine. As you may know, I am currently a senior in college and if you are a college student and reading this, I am sure you are aware of the fact that college life definitely keeps you busy and it is hard sometimes to remain healthy during those times of late night hangouts, study sessions, back to back classes, and you may even have a job or internship on the side. I wanted to make this health blog to share various health exercises that address mental and physical health for college students, so while life is keeping you busy, you can incorporate one of these blog tips into your daily routine of exercise, as exercising is very important. Even during this time of COVID-19, I have been finding myself wanting to stay inside more often than not, however, I try to carve out some time during the day to complete my daily exercise or some type of incorporated movement into my daily routine to keep my body moving and filled with energy. I think, if you are hesitant to start something new, whether it be a new type of exercise, a form of meditation, or any adjustment in your life, do not over think it when starting out and make it a choice to complete it every day until it evolves into a healthy habit.
With all the tips that I have provided to stay in shape throughout the course of this health blog and to prevent or lower stress levels, various exercises and forms of meditation are just a piece of the puzzle. As I mentioned in a previous blog, sleep is vital to your mental and physical health, as it can affect your entire body and functional performance of the brain. In addition, if your routine is lacking sleep, you are more likely to indulge in sugary foods and have an increase in appetite. Especially for growing adults like myself, it is important for me to get the necessary hours of sleeping, so I can function throughout the day and be more mindful about eating unhealthy food choices. However, it is absolutely okay to treat yourself once in a while to some good dessert!
Above all, while you are making the choice to be healthier and treating yourself with care, I hope you can see that you will feel stronger in your own skin and more confident to tackle anything that you put your mind to!! I hope you find my blogs insightful and I wish you well!! Stay healthy and happy!!!
